Student Instruction
USDLC offers a wide variety of courses for students in computer science, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, workforce and life skills, and world languages. These courses are delivered online with the majority taught in Blackboard. Click here for information on how to use Blackboard. The third year foreign languages – Spanish III, French III, and Latin III – are taught using Educator from Ucompass. Click here for a Student and Teacher Demo of Educator. With course content at levels of beginning to advanced placement and formats from semester-paced, block, to Flex 90, there are many choices to select from in order to best meet the needs of individual students. Without question, distance learning can be an effective way for schools to expand curriculum and meet the changing needs of a broader group of students.
USDLC knows firsthand the secret to success lies in the partnership we develop with each site. In addition, it is very important that sites adopt several key steps:
- Identify a site coordinator to serve as the administrative liaison.
- Assign a facilitator/mentor for individual courses.
- Screen students carefully to ensure they understand what is expected of them.
For information on the responsibilities of the site coordinator and facilitator/mentor, go to Program Administration.
